Barcelona Sets De Jong’s Price, Fans Are Outraged

Reports suggest that Frenkie de Jong has been put up for sale by Barcelona, and fans are struggling to believe the price being discussed for his potential departure in the summer.

De Jong, who joined Barça from Ajax in the summer of 2019, is no longer among Hansi Flick’s preferred choices for the Blaugrana midfield.

The Dutchman has made only six appearances in La Liga this season, having also suffered an injury at the start of the campaign.

According to the Spanish outlet SPORT, the Catalan giants are prepared to let the Dutch midfielder leave during the January transfer window.

It’s believed that Barcelona is willing to sell De Jong for just €20 million.

De Jong has a contract with Barcelona until 2026, but the club wants to avoid the scenario of him leaving on a free transfer, as no discussions have yet taken place regarding a contract renewal.

This asking price is being considered extremely low by Barça fans, sparking widespread reactions on social media.

De Jong originally joined the Catalan giants for €75 million from Ajax.

The 27-year-old was once a regular and indispensable part of Barcelona’s lineup, but injuries have plagued him in recent times.

Manchester United showed significant interest in signing him a year ago, reportedly willing to offer over €100 million, but Barcelona didn’t entertain their proposal at the time.
