Fenerbahce has confirmed that Jose Mourinho has sued Galatasaray, seeking financial compensation of €40,000 after being accused of making “racist statements.”
After the Portuguese coach stated that Galatasaray’s bench was “jumping like monkeys” and that Monday’s goalless draw was better officiated by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic than by Turkish referees, “The Lions” accused him of racism and took legal action against him.
Shortly after being handed a four-match suspension and fined €35,000, Fenerbahce confirmed that Mourinho has filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray, demanding €42,000 for non-material damages.
“We would like to inform the public that a lawsuit for non-material damages amounting to 1,907,000 Turkish lira (€41,500) has been filed against Galatasaray by Jose Mourinho through Fenerbahce’s lawyers, following the attacks on our coach Jose Mourinho’s personal rights,” Fenerbahce stated in an announcement.
