The Serie A Title Race: What Results Do Inter, Napoli, and Atalanta Need?

This season’s Scudetto race couldn’t be tighter, with Napoli hosting Inter this weekend while Atalanta remains in the mix as well.

“Football Italia” has outlined the results that Inter, Napoli, and Atalanta will be hoping for this weekend.

What Does Inter Need This Weekend?

The Nerazzurri took control of first place after a 1-0 victory over Genoa last weekend, while Napoli slipped up with a 2-1 defeat against Como. This puts Inter at the top of the table, one point ahead of Antonio Conte’s side.

For Inter, a win would move them four points clear of Napoli and at least three points ahead at the top, considering Atalanta’s game against Venezia.

Atalanta currently sits three points behind Inter going into the weekend.

A draw would favor Inter more than Napoli, as it would keep them one point ahead of their title rivals, knowing that these two sides won’t face each other again this season.

However, Atalanta would benefit the most from a draw—provided they win their match.

A loss would be a major blow for Inter, as it would mean Napoli retakes first place with a two-point lead. If Atalanta also wins, Inter would drop to third place.

What Does Napoli Need This Weekend?

Nothing less than a win would suit Antonio Conte’s team, which hasn’t won any of its four Serie A matches in February.

A victory would put Napoli at the top of the table with a two-point lead over both Inter and Atalanta, assuming Atalanta wins their match against Venezia.

A draw, as mentioned earlier, would favor Inter more than Napoli, as Napoli would then be level on points with Atalanta, again assuming that La Dea secures three points against Venezia.

A defeat would see Napoli fall four points behind Inter and lose second place if Atalanta wins.

What Does Atalanta Need This Weekend?

If both Atalanta and Inter win, Gasperini’s side would remain three points behind the Nerazzurri, but they would have a chance to equalize on points when Atalanta faces Inter in March.

If Atalanta and Napoli win, Napoli would go top with a two-point lead over both Atalanta and Inter.

If Atalanta wins and Inter vs. Napoli ends in a draw, Inter would remain first with 58 points, while Napoli and Atalanta would have 57 points each—setting up a thrilling title race.

However, if Atalanta loses or draws against Venezia, it won’t matter what happens in Napoli vs. Inter, as they would remain in third place in the table.
