The 1-0 victory on Wednesday against Real Sociedad was a very special moment for Vinicius, as it marked his first match as the captain of Real Madrid.
The absences of Dani Carvajal and Federico Valverde, along with Lucas Vazquez and Luka Modric being on the bench, meant that Vinicius, who was fifth in the captaincy hierarchy, had the honor of leading the team. For him, it was a truly special moment, as he shared after the match with Real Madrid TV.
“It is something very special for me, as a 24-year-old, to be the captain of Real Madrid in a match. It’s special for me and for my family,” he said.
Vinicius also added that he is open to experiencing this feeling many more times in the future, indirectly making it clear that he has no plans to leave Real Madrid, despite strong interest from Saudi Arabia.
“The feeling of being the captain of this club is something different. I want to make history here. In the next match, I will reach 300 appearances with the club, but I am already thinking about my 400th and 500th games,” Vinicius added.
Regarding last night’s match, Vini expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“We played very well and defended very well. And we won with a very beautiful goal from Endrick. We are reaching our best version at the most important moments of the season,” he concluded.
