Old friends, old mates. Both, legends of Barcelona. Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta, among the key architects of the marvels of Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona. One is now the coach of the “blaugranas”, the other still plays, at Emirates Club, in the United Arab Emirates. But no one in Barcelona will ever forget Don Andres.
“He is the greatest talent I have seen in Spanish football. I congratulate him, 1000 matches are a lot. He has left his mark here and it’s hard to imagine another player like him. He is among the best in football history,” said Xavi of his friend, Iniesta.
Then Xavi turned to the greatest talent of today’s midfield, Pedri, who for many is somewhat the heir of the two (former champions) old friends:
“Like most midfielders, he must be decisive. If we have taken one step forward, we must take another. The decisive moment comes and you have to be at a high level to compete as well as possible. We managed Pedri’s workload well and he feels very, very good.”
