Leverkusen makes history, becomes the first German team with 33 unbeaten matches

Bayer Leverkusen secured a victory against Mainz, with a narrow result of 2-1, in the 23rd round of the Bundesliga.

The hosts took the lead through Granit Xhaka, who scored a superb goal in the 3rd minute.

Mainz equalized with Dominik Kohr, who leveled the score in the 8th minute. With this result, the first half ended.

In the second half, Robert Andrich capitalized on a mistake to put Leverkusen back in the lead. This goal proved to be the winner in the end.

With this victory, the “Pharmacists” become the first German team with 33 unbeaten matches in all competitions. The previous record was held by Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen, with this win, sits at the top of the table with 61 points earned, 11 points ahead of Bayern Munich, who is in second place with one less match played.
